WOW, Summer is here!
Sorry, I’ve been so busy and haven’t had one second to update this blog…..Where to start?
Well, the first event of the summer I guess was going to the National Championship Mule and Donkey Show at the National Walking Horse Celebration Grounds in Shelbyville, Tennessee….Not only did I help Florence get there, get her mule shown, I picked up my new mule Arco Chromemolly, aka Sis and showed her at halter as well. I also got the privilege of riding James and Lisa Fergason of Sanger Texas’ donkey, I Wanna Be A Rock Star” in the Donkey hunter under saddle class and was the Reserve National Champion!
Sis received fourth place National Champion Two and under Saddle mule at halter, and fourth place in the color class. Not a bad show for me, especially the first time as a mule owner! Sis has settled in to New York pretty well, even though the weather this summer s pretty chilly and she’s used to 90’s and higher in Alabama! Tennessee was just as hot, and coming back here was quite a shock to all our systems!
Summer Camp 2009: Today was the final day with 11 campers all under the age of 13, average age was 10. WOW, what an energetic group. Everything was done in high gear with high energy! We luckily had Keli Stewart to help, along with Mackenzie and Brad Covert. Jaimee and I so appreciate all their help. I’m sure we could have done it without them if we had to, but Thank God they were there!!!!!
We had some great kids, cooperative kids, kids that wanted to learn to ride and simply be around horses. Only 5 of them were regular lesson kids, so we introduced 6 more kids to horses, and I’m sure it won’t be their last experience, based on the enthusiasm!
So, next up? Chemung County Fair with Buster, Jackie and Sis, Haflinger show with Sandy, go see the BLM adoption process at Cornell, get the hay baled and pretty much continue the day to day process at the farm!
A shout out to Louise, my friend who just had open heart surgery, GET WELL SOON and get your butt back on a horse!!!!!
