Some of the kids
Well, let’s talk about some of the kids from Southwind. Dorothy has been riding here for two years, her specialty is Western, but she dabbles in huntseat riding and is learning how to work with horses starting from the “bottom” with foals, learning about groundwork, and also helps with daily chores. She is pretty handy around the barn and around horses. Although her goals don’t include actually competing, she is going to be the “head hand” at shows this year and will be a lot of help! Dorothy is also an active advocate of animal rights and homeless pets. She is homeschooled with a busy schedule, but finds time for the things she enjoys!
Jenna, Jada, and Tennessee are new to the world of owning their own horse. This is Harley, a coming 4 year old APHA mare. She was started in reining and is adapting very well to Jada’s learning western pleasure. Jenna takes huntseat lessons, she rides a Southwind horse, either Junior or Buster. She has learned alot this fall/winter not only how to ride, but to trust horses and to learn to be assertive when dealing with them. Tennessee does leadline at the end of the girls’ lessons when she’s not sitting in the van eating cheetos and keeping warm!!! Jenna and Jada carry full schedules of events at school including drama, dance, swimming and volleyball to name a few, so are a couple of busy girls at Lansing Central School. Their horse goals are still in the beginning stages, but a couple of horse shows are in the planning.
This is just a couple of the kids here, i am working on taking some good pictures of the rest of the gang for everyone to meet on this website. Want to join us? Give me a call/email. Adults too!!! Enjoy 2009.
